MangoGT Connections
This page describes the physical ports, connectors, and indicators on the MangoGT hardware appliance. Use this reference when cabling your unit during initial installation or when connecting additional devices.
Front Panel Connections
The front panel of the MangoGT provides the primary connectivity ports:
| Number | Port | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Gigabit Ethernet | RJ-45 connector for network connectivity. Supports 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-negotiation. Connect to your local network switch or router. |
| 2 | USB Port | Standard USB 2.0 Type-A port for connecting USB devices such as USB-to-serial adapters, USB drives for data import/export, or WiFi adapters. |
| 3 | 5 VDC Power (Micro-USB) | Micro-USB power input. Not recommended for production systems. Use only for bench testing and development. |
| 4 | 12-24 VDC Power Input | Industrial power input for production deployments. Accepts 12 to 24 volts DC. Use a regulated power supply rated for at least 2A at 12V or 1A at 24V. |
| 5 | RS-485 Connector | Screw terminal connector for RS-485 serial communication. Used for Modbus RTU, BACnet MS/TP, and other serial protocols. Provides terminals for Data+, Data-, and Ground. |
| 6 | HDMI Connector | Full-size HDMI output for connecting a local monitor. Useful for terminal access during initial setup or as a local HMI display in permanent installations. |
| 7 | AUX USB | Auxiliary USB port with software-controlled power. Power to this port can be enabled or disabled through the operating system, which is useful for power cycling connected USB devices remotely. |
Power Input Details
For production deployments, always use the 12-24 VDC industrial power input (port 4). This connector is designed for reliable operation with industrial power supplies and provides better protection against power fluctuations than the Micro-USB port.
Recommended power supply specifications:
- Input voltage: 12-24 VDC
- Minimum current rating: 2A at 12V, or 1A at 24V
- Use a regulated, industrial-grade power supply for best reliability
RS-485 Wiring
The RS-485 screw terminal connector uses the following pinout:
| Terminal | Signal | Description |
|---|---|---|
| A | Data+ | Non-inverting data line |
| B | Data- | Inverting data line |
| G | Ground | Signal ground reference |
When connecting to Modbus RTU or BACnet MS/TP devices, use twisted-pair cable (Cat5 or dedicated RS-485 cable). For long cable runs or multi-drop networks, add a 120-ohm termination resistor across Data+ and Data- at each end of the bus.
Top Panel
The top panel provides status indication and optional expansion connections:
| Number | Feature | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Status LEDs | Indicate power, network activity, and system status. Steady green indicates normal operation. Blinking patterns indicate boot sequence or error conditions. |
| 2 | Expansion Terminals | Screw terminals for connecting to the optional internal I/O expansion card. These terminals are only present on MangoGT models ordered with the analog I/O expansion module. Standard MangoGT units do not have these screw terminals. |
LED Indicators
The status LEDs on the top panel provide at-a-glance information about the MangoGT state:
| LED | State | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Steady green | Unit is powered and operating normally |
| Power | Off | No power or unit is off |
| Network | Blinking green | Network traffic is present |
| Network | Off | No network link detected |
| Activity | Blinking | Disk or CPU activity |
Mounting Options
The MangoGT enclosure supports DIN-rail mounting for installation in standard industrial control panels. The unit can also be placed on a shelf or mounted to a surface using the provided mounting hardware. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit -- avoid placing it in sealed enclosures without airflow, as the embedded processor generates heat during sustained operation.
Environmental Considerations
| Parameter | Rating |
|---|---|
| Operating temperature | 0 to 50 C (32 to 122 F) |
| Storage temperature | -20 to 70 C (-4 to 158 F) |
| Humidity | 10-90% non-condensing |
| Enclosure rating | Indoor use |
When installing the MangoGT in an industrial environment, ensure that the Ethernet and RS-485 cables are routed away from high-voltage power lines and sources of electromagnetic interference to maintain reliable communication.
